    Noah Layne, is a fellow B.C. artist. He works from Victoria.

    The first thing that struck me about Noah's work was the lighting. The second thing that struck me were the subjects. Through a combination of these two ingredients he paints with old school realism, scenes that are surreal. The light in the painting is half the picture-- creating in many cases a wonderful balance in contrasts and adding even more interest to his already intriguing choice of objects.

    Note the picture to the left. One side in clearly lit, the other shadowed. The lighting not only creates a vivid range of colour in the piece but becomes a symbol in itself.
